T-Shirt Care

Some of you have taken the all new "red & glitter" version of the auditors shirts! However since these shirts are decorated with fabric paint & glitter, it is more delicate than normal shirts. As such, we have some very important T-Shirt Care guidelines so that this shirt can be retained for a long time and importantly so that the colour will not run.

(1) Do not bleach.
(2) Do not soak.
(3) Hand wash immediately.
(4) To retain colour freshness, avoid washing white base T-shirt with dark coloured clothing.

What are the objectives?

The objectives are to : stimulate interest in audit activities among students, enable students to carry out self-directed activities in areas of interest in audit, and provide opportunities for students to develop initiative and creativity.

Who can participate?

Anyone with integrity can participate in the scheme.

How do I participate?

There is only 1 Young Auditor badge, which can be earned. To earn a badge, you have to buy a corresponding activity card and carry out the activities listed in the card. For each activity you complete, you earn a number of stars. After you have earned the required number of stars, you qualify for THE badge. Your AIW mentor must certify that you have completed each card properly. You can ask your mentor and other experts for advice but you must carry out the activities yourself.

How long does it take to complete each activity card?

The activities are to be carried out during your leisure time. It normally takes about 3 years to complete one activity card.

Who certifies the activities?

Your AIW mentor in school will certify each activity in the cards after he or she is satisfied with your work.

Where do I get the activity cards?

The activity cards are available at the AIW souvenir shop.

Where do I send my completed activity card?

After you have completed the activity card and earned the required number of stars, hand the card over to your AIW mentor.

What are my rewards?

A certificate and badge will be awarded to you for each activity card you complete. You will also have an opportunity to display your work.

Where is the display held?

There will be a display of selected projects where THE badge presentation ceremony is held.The Young Auditors Activities Club is organised by AUDITORSinwhite, the AUDIT Teachers Association of Singapore, the Singapore Association for the Advancement of AUDIT and the Singapore National Academy of AUDIT. The scheme is supported by the Ministry of Audit.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day left as quickly as it came! And now it is the time of CNY again, where our pockets will be bursting with golden coins, our waist will increase by 5 inches and our weight will increase by 5 Kg..no thanks to the yummy goodies!! So while others seize this time to catch up with work, I find it extremely hard to move out of my personal inertia as the festive season has easily devoured all my diligence.

So what did u all do on Valentine's Day? I call this day a marketing scam where all prices become sky high. Then again, I don't mind the pampering as long as I am not footing the bill. And it is afterall a good contribution to the Singapore's Economy! :)

For us NTU hotties, this year Valentine's was a memorable one as we spent it well with our two beloved profs. And we get to see who are dressed up and are going on a date!!! For eg, I saw this course mate all dressed up in a long sleeve shirt n jeans as opposed to his usual attire! If i did go closer to him, I might have sniffed perfume worthy of high heavens. Quite a revolting thought somehow. HAHA!!! Anyway I decided to spare him my nonsensical teasing by postponing it to the day after.

#Single & Celebrating Loneliness!

This friend was telling me that he sang to "All By Myself" and Akon's "Lonely" on Valentine's day after trying quite hard at reading AA306. I agree that 306 is a bummer. Later, he decided to cry to the movie Babel as he was a far cry away from Brad Pitt. (this i agree too)

And yes one fine day perhaps when all I will have is a pot of gold and nothing else. By then I will join him in this enjoyable night of singing "All By Myself". And I shall cry to another movie. You are so cool.

#Meeting of the Old Flame!

This was really quite surprising!! I was shocked to hear that people meet up with their old flames especially from people I least expect!! Albeit astonished, it's sweet to know u both are carrying torches for each other. I believe that Destiny will bring you both back together if u both are meant to be.

#Meeting up with Dearest Friends!

Of course! V day is a time for friendships and not just for couples! And perhaps some people go out on the pretext of being friends...well....

For the Long-Dist relationship. This is something I always look up to! I find Long-Dist relationship so difficult though I never did tried once. The movies always showcase how tough this type of relationship is to be. Though movies are unrealistic, I am quite sold on them.

#Lovers Night Out

Of course a night out at the romantic East Coast Beach, or a rendezvous at Fullerton at a low price of $388++ per night! Others spent it differently at Little India, Chinatown or maybe a nice home-cooked meal. I believe that it's the company that counts and not the place. But of course if the ambience is way off, how do we have some romantic time in the first place? Oh I heard that East Coast Beach Carpark A has quite a number cars that move when they are supposed to be stationary. Well, a great snoop for u guys to check out!

#Celebrating Birthdays

This friend of mine always have a good excuse of dressing up nicely on this day. He says that he is celebrating his birthday. Yeah but somehow I am always not invited to his birthday. And in fact only 1 person celebrates his birthday with him. How coincidental!

So now that Valentine's 2007 is over...Plan for 2008 ahead!!! For the singles I have a question to ask, would you rather a guy/gal...

(1) Who you can talk to v well, share ur probs but have no attraction
(2) Some part of the character you really detest but you have a strong attraction

The long awaited AIW Internship Program

Dear prospective auditors, Are you interested to apply for the AIW intership Program? This Program is aimed at selecting young talent and accelerating their business and functional skills development within audit. This intership will give you a headstart into our renowned AIW MA Program !!!!! Students from ALL specializations are urged to apply. However, priority will be given to those with auditing experience. This 3 months program will allow you opportunities to see for yourself first hand the efficient strategic and operational aspects of AIW. You will be rotated across different business functions and you will have a mentor to guide you along the way. This is the chance of a lifetime to work with the senior management team at AIW. To apply, craft a convincing cover letter addressed to The Auditor, Vice President Human Resources, persuading him to grant you an interview. Your cover letter should tell him what are your key strengths and you should cite examples from your background to prove that you indeed have these qualities. Am real happy to know there is quite a lot of vibes regarding this website and of AIW! Had to rub my soporific eyes as I see fellow mates (one just right smacked in front of me) looking at this website during ACL class! Imagine guys forfeiting the important and interesting lesson to look at the T-Shirts! Thanks to all enthusiastic guys! :) Anyway, people have been asking about the T-Shirt orders. So more details as follows:

Print-your-own-tee!
Shirt is printed with any tagline you desire! It can be from this AIW website, or something that you conjure up e.g. je suis le sexy auditor. Vulgar words/profanity will not be entertained.

The fabulous tagline will be printed on a plain white shirt.

There is no minimum quota to achieve i.e. everyone can have their own individualised shirt at the same price of $12!

Ordering Details
Batch 1 orders must reach AIW by tomorrow 5 pm. The shirts will be printed in 5 days i.e. you dears can wear the shirts on Valentine's Day! **(CLOSED)

Batch 2 orders i.e. orders after tmr 5pm will fall into this category. The last day of order is still tentative. Pls refer to this blog for more updates!

Upon receiving ur order, a confirmation either verbal or written will be given. In the event that you did not receive any reply, it could mean that we have not received your order. As such, NO SHIRT will be printed! Also, do drop us an email if u did not receive a reply!

Je suis le sexy Auditor

Je suis le SEXY Auditor is specially designed for a good chum of mine whose head is brimming with this phrase constantly and flashing me with his signature cheeky smile when I say that he is Narcissistic!

Talking about this word, ever knew the origin of this word? Hint: There is a flower called Narcissus! I always like a share a good story or two.. so here it goes:

The Story of Narcissus
This story dates back many centuries ago which is what many people term as a "greek mythology" now. It all started with this nymph called Narcissus. He is one full of resplendent hope for life and equipped with a cheerful disposition! One eventful day, he decided to venture out of his habitat. Soon he passed by a meadow full of beautiful flowers and a crystal clear lake called Echo's Pond. Excitedly, he bounced towards the lake just to see an attractive nymph in it. Sadly, poor narcissus did not know that he was entranced with his own reflection!

He groveled and begged for the reflection to meet him. Time goes by and Narcissus was persistent as he had fallen fatally in love with himself sadly :(. Time never did manage to pale his love for himself, instead he fell hard and deeper into despondency. Weaker by the days, he eventually wasted away in vain for his mere reflection. All that was left in his place was a beautiful flower of white petals stained with peach pink. This flower is hence named Narcissus.

Today to say that someone is Narcissistic who loves/is obsessed with himself and his physical appearance excessively!

And yes a huge deviation from the T-Shirt Design. Je suis le sexy (french words) auditor simply means I am the sexy auditor. So now u understand why I call him Narcissistic! LOL! :D

Valentines Day

Dear Auditors,

I don't know how to break this news to you. Valentine's day is just around the corner.

And so is our audit peak.

You can forget about the candlelight dinner, or the stroll along the river. You can start dropping hints to your boyfriend/girlfriend that you will probably be spending time with your manager instead of celebrating on this very day. I know it's hard, but we are AUDITORS, nothing can break us.

Therefore, on this day, to salvage relationships and to remind ourselves that we are great, we should all buy a shirt that looks like this. Hopefully your girlfriend/boyfriend will agree.

Read the following only if you are a girl:

Girls, I have something to share with you. Buy the girlfriend shirt for your boyfriend this valentines and make him wear it when you go for your candlelight dinner. All u do is tick

This is inspired by my very humorous team mate! He is one guy who is v affable and always able to lighten serious atmospheres with a joke or two. One thing I always remember him for was during our self-introduction...he was bold enough to "auction" himself... starting with "Hi I'm XX, I'm 24, Single...Minimum bid is $50..." He ended it off by saying that he's priceless which I totally agree! Every individual is indeed unique and he is really one priceless person, full of confidence, charisma that he is always able to make a joke out of himself!

After he heard of AIW, he went... "all u do is tick"! Which is so true...after hearing from industry experts/seniors that every auditor is armed with a checklist! And the day and night goes with tick, tick, tick... amidst all the frustrations of mismatches, late nights! Most intridgingly, his catchphrase simply falls so nicely into the word AUDIT! Amazing are the minds of some people!! Thanks a million mate!

You might have seen some of these designs on our msn! And many people asked teasingly "are you sure! I really doubt it! You look like you will torture your bf". Excuser-moi!!! I make a real good other-half ok!

The most fundamental rule of our profession. I will not elaborate much on this, for fear of disclosing too much information that sets us apart from the non-beancounters. It is this information assymetry that gives us hope in this industry.

The most delightful of all beverages. I will not elaborate much on this either, for fear that you think we are alcoholics. For your information, auditors and accountants are very disciplined professionals. We are sound and sober in our work and life. We do not drink and drive. Not that you see many of us with cars. We take public transport.

What do we THINK?

Have been receiving some positive and negative vibes about AIW and the shirts. Fortunately, there is much more positive feedback! I have people saying that this is a real fun idea and they would love to wear the shirt! Thanks a lot guys!!! Well at the same time, there are people who are pretty skeptical and have quite a few questions running in their heads! Yeah i agree that a healthy skepticism is good. Still, let us try to address some of the questions:

1. Why are you doing this?

We think that this is a fun & hip thing to do and we just wanted to make our time in varsity a memorable one! Happy times are so ephemeral and we are just want to keep a piece of NBS in the years to come. This sounds mushy but that is what we sincerely think.

Also, we thought that it is fun seeing everyone wearing the shirt altogether on a day for example AA306 lecture! Just imagine the look on Prof Bernadine face!! It is really a simple thing of having a sense of belonging and having great fun. Don't you agree that the taglines are witty??And the fun here does not mean that we find auditing fun per se! We just find wearing these "controversial sarcastic" taglines really enjoyable!! Especially so in a large group. We can understand that people may find this silly but remember guys...this is our very last chance to be silly in school. Live dangerously fun rather than cautiously in our last days of studying!!

2. Are you sure this is not a profit-making project?

As we have said, this is just about having fun! The shirt is selling at cost price ($10-$11) with just a buffer margin of $1-$2 to cover transportation fees and credit default risk (sounds a wee bit too serious but unable to think of any other word currently) i.e. people ordering the shirt but not wanting it in the end! As such, we have to cover the costs of these shirts!

Do you really think that selling T-Shirts can make a lot of money?? Say the buffer margin is $2 and we sell 50 shirts, the hypothetical gross profit margin (assuming there is no transportation & credit risk) is a mere $100!! Also consider opportunity costs e.g. time to share our ideals, to set up this website, $100 is really so insignificant.

3. Isn't it dangerous to wear these controversial taglines e.g. "2.2K is not enough"?

We are thinking of having more positive taglines on auditing.. But we are sure the "devil's advocates" still like these witty harmless sarcastic taglines!!

4. I still do not believe that you all are doing this for fun and nothing else?

Since we still cannot convince you, there is nothing else we have to say. This shirt is for people who just want to have fun!!!

Dear aspiring auditors

By now you should have been notified that our market value has appreciated to 2.4. The smarter amongst us are worth 2.5. Thank you K, for your recognition of our efforts in mugging.

You might think that a couple of hundred bucks is peanuts. But to us, it means:

First AIW Day!

Today was a fun/scary day where we roamed around Can B and eventually crashed AUDITOR Su's AA304 class! In our heads we were thinking, people are going to agree with us or condemn us. Fortunately NTU are fun loving people and we have received many positive feedback! Before entering Seminar Rm 5 we quivered in a mixture of fear and excitement for a while...Well we did sit in ultimately!

Many questions were asked that day like:

Are you all doing a campaign?
What's with the shirt?
Can I model it for free? LOL!
How much is the shirt?

We are stil finalizing many details and we really really hope that there will be more NTU students who will wear this shirt. This is a fun loving shirt! A fashion keepsake! Come on guys! Join in the fun!

Oh yes, a clarfication..we are not excited to be auditors! Rather we are making harmless sarcasm about it! The shirts we wore that day were safe, far too safe. So the future T-Shirt designs promise to be more sarcastic.
